Pupils experience an integrated science course covering the CfE level 3 and 4 experiences and outcomes – gaining new information, carrying out exciting experiments and developing skills such as problem solving and working as part of a team.
Pupils will work through a variety of topics from Chemistry, Biology & Physics before choosing discrete science(s) in S3.

When pupils choose Chemistry they will continue to build on their knowledge and develop their scientific skills while working through the level 4 E’s and O’s with progression to National 4 and 5 in mind. During S3 they will cover the following topics:  

• Rates of Reaction  
• Atoms and the Periodic Table 
• Properties of Substances 
• Acids and Alkalis

• National 5 Chemistry 
• National 4 Chemistry 

The following courses are available: 

• Higher Chemistry 
• Advanced Higher Chemistry 

Throughout all of these senior phase courses, candidates will work through a variety of Chemistry topics learning all about the exciting world of Chemistry while gaining skills which will help them access a variety of career pathways.
