Pupils in S1-S2 will study Biology as part of an integrated Science Course. During this course, experiences and outcomes from CfE Levels 3 & 4 are covered. The Biology department has an input along with the Chemistry and Physics departments. 

Pupils at the end of second year can choose to study either ONE or TWO sciences in S3 depending on their ability level and interest. 

- Planet Earth – which covers: biodiversity, the impact of the human population on the environment, photosynthesis and an insight into habitats, communities and populations. 

- The Secret Life of the Cell – which covers: the inner workings of the cell, including cell structure, genetic engineering and the structure of the cell membrane 

- The Growth and Survival of Organisms – which covers: mitosis and reproduction in animals and plants. 

At the end of S3, pupils will be recommended to sit either National 4 or National 5 Biology.
